Hunter River Dragons were represented well paddling with the Northern Waratah’s team and making the finals for the Senior A and Senior B mixed teams. Unfortunately the day was cut short due to poor air quality caused by bush fires and these were our only races.
The Northern Waratah’s were made up of paddlers from Nambucca, Kempsey, Manning (Taree), Camden Haven, Forster and Hunter with Senior A, Senior B and Premier divisions entered.
Racing was along a 500m course with some tuff competition from the Sydney teams. We held our own finishing 4th in the SNR A mixed (by 1 100th of a second) and 5th for our SNR B mixed.
The event was also our first regatta wearing our new club shirts. It was awesome being stopped by people we didn’t know so they could tell us how great the shirts looked.
